Ilko Koestler (born 1978, Halle Saale, Germany) studied landscape architecture in Berlin. The thesis STONESCAPE explores our understanding what landscape is and could be by looking at the exploitation of limestone in Franconian Jura in Bavaria.



In 2016 he finished his post graduate studies in print graphics with Thomas Rug at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Hallle.

In 2016 Ilko Koestler was awarded a grant in New York at ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program) by the Art Foundation of State Saxony-Anhalt.

In 2018 he was fellow of the Art Foundation of State Saxony-Anhalt and the Foundation of Monastery Berge.

In 2019 -20 he is one of 4 fellows for the scholarship Max-Klinger in honour to his 100 death day at 4th of July 2020

Ilko Koestler (geboren 1978 in Halle an der Saale) studierte in Berlin Landschaftsarchitektur.
Diplomthema “STONESCAPE Abbaukonzept für Kalksteine im Fränkischen Jura”.



2016 schloss er das Meisterschüler-Studium Grafik bei Professor Thomas Rug an der Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle ab.

2016 war er Stipendiat der Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt und des ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program) in New York.

2018 erhielt er ein Arbeitsstipendium der Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt und der Kloster Bergischen Stiftung

2019- 2020 Max- Klinger Stipendium der Kunststiftung Sachsen- Anhalt der Kloster Bergeschen Stiftung
